Printpack serves the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and agricultural industries. The company has been in Orange since 1996 when it purchased the James River packaging business. Originally the plant opened in 1959 under the Crown Zellerbach name.
“Decisions like this that negatively impact the lives and livelihoods of any of our associates are never easy to make, and this decision is in no way a reflection of our capable and dedicated associates in Orange,” said CEO Jimmy Love in a prepared statement. “Market realities force us to continue to improve our cost positions to sustain our business over the long term, and we are limited in how many production assets we can support in our film-making platform.”
The Orange plant employs about 87 people. Some will be offered positions at other Printpack locations, the company says.
