The expansion includes an additional high-speed coating line to manufacture SealScience® heat-seal coatings for sterile-grade packaging materials. The new coating line includes a sophisticated vision system for detecting defects and a number of automated process-monitoring controls.
“We are excited to enhance the value we deliver to our customers,” says Jerry Bennish, president/CEO. “Quality, cleanliness, continuity of supply and controlling costs are of utmost importance to healthcare manufacturers. Our recent investments will ensure we are exceeding customer expectations in these areas.”
To serve the industry’s demanding regulatory requirements, Oliver-Tolas developed a robust validation plan that will provide customers ample time to evaluate products produced on the new line.
“Producing high-quality, heat-seal coated products for the healthcare market is extremely demanding. Our customers deliver life-saving products and we share a responsibility to ensure patient safety with safe and effective packaging materials. In order to serve our customers and employees, we decided to invest in our talented people in Hamilton,” says Russell Douglas, global vp-operations. The facility has been operational since 1992. “The new equipment will provide additional capacity and redundancy in our operation. This is one of many proactive steps we take to insulate our customers from the risk of supply interruptions.”
This expansion comes two years after Oliver-Tolas made significant investments on three continents. Oliver-Tolas expanded the operation in Feasterville, PA, doubling the campus; expanded cleanroom manufacturing in the Venray, The Netherlands, facility; and opened a distribution and converting facility with a registered ISO 8 cleanroom in Suzhou, China.
