After a state-of-the-art slitting machine was recently put into operation at the company’s headquarters in Filderstadt, Germany, its British subsidiary, which grew by more than 30% last year, has now also invested in a new Kampf Conslit slitting machine for film-based materials at the Newbury, Berkshire, UK plant. At a maximum speed of 800 mpm, the new slitting machine enables the efficient processing of large orders as well as small batches while providing consistent, high quality along with short setup times. The investment, amounting to more than £500,000, handles plastic films, refined papers, and laminates.
Colin Phillips, director of the Self-Adhesive Materials Div. at HERMA UK, explains the growing demand for film-based label stock: “Thanks to our multilayer technology, printers can produce labels from film-based label stock much more easily – with less adhesive bleeding and reduced contamination of the slitting dies. Moreover, we are currently registering a very buoyant market, with many customers and end users demanding next-day service. Thanks to the new, versatile [Conslit] slitting machine, we are able to fulfill these demands.”
A total of three Kampf Conslit slitting machines now operate 24/5 at the company’s UK location. HERMA is able to easily reacts to increasing demand for film-based adhesive materials with multilayer adhesives and secures its next-day service.
